Good Morning & Happy MLK Day Ms. Martha Stewat!
It was a pleasure making your acquaintance last week. Once again, you are a lot further ahead (more sophisticated, forward thinking, earnest) than your competitors... you're a leader. Don't let anyone, diminish those invaluable attributes that you bring to the table. What follows is an abbreviated recap of our meeting.
1. There are couple documents you should have on your person at all times, especially when you begin to take on employees or partners: operating agreement, contracting agreement; non-circumvent, confidentiality agreement, and non-disclosure agreement. Read this article to acquire more food for thought: https://www.catchjsbuford.com/2019/10/business-origination-documents.html
2. Remember, to find ways to weave your personal passion and story into your FB & Gram presence. It's important that people know what you do, and WHY you do it. People will remember the WHY and if it resonates with them emotionally or personally, that is the first step towards people eventually becoming brand advocates for your business. Take time to reflect on your origination story. Your focus on excellence should definitely be woven into your presence.
3. Double down on LinkedIn. If you want commercial projects. If you want to work with businesses with deeper pockets. You have to go where they are. Remember, if your presence is right, people don't know if you've been around 2 minutes or 20 years initially... they don't know the zip code you hail from, your complexion, or your academic level. Remember, most people on LinkedIn are there for commercial purposes or looking to level up professionally.
4. Time to create some credibility. Acquire recommendation letters from your clients. Begin to collect video footage of your clients testifying to how you've changed their lives. A website today is a business card, when you're first starting out. People just want to know that you have one. But when dealing in the B2B (business to business market) you need one. It doesn't need to be some state of the art, super polished, motion picture extravaganza.
It simply needs to say, this is WE, this is what WE do, your messaging should promote your WHY as much as possible. It needs to clearly point people to this is how you contact me to do business, and it NEEDS TO HAVE A PLACE OR METHOD WHERE YOU CAN COLLECT THEIR INFORMATION, whether you do business with them or not.
Remember, FB, the GRAM, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc., etc.,is real estate that you don't own. All paths need to lead to real estate that you own.
5. Remember, talent wins games, but teams win championships. Stay hungry for learning, and surround yourself with people who are what you are not. Partnerships, formal and informal alike, are important. Just exercise the same discernment that you'd exercise when sizing up a perspective date or life partner. People will disappoint you, because that's what people do. Make sure things are on paper so when they do, they can't cause undue harm on their way out the door.
6. Remember to review the following information:
I celebrate your success in advance Martha, and I look forward to being of service to you.
