What made the United States the greatest nation on earth was it's lack of homogeneity. In other words, from the beginning of this country's founding, it has been a destination place for every corner on the planet. If you were willing to work hard, you could find your golden, silver, or bronze brick road. The most industrious, talented, and those who hungered for freedom made the trip.

As an aside, it is true that Plymouth Rock landed on Africans and on the indigenous Native Americans here.

Nevertheless, this is American history in the United States. To deny this is self-defeating.
