My faith has been tested more over the last two years, than at anytime in my life. If the last two years were rings in a tree, they would be very, very thin. More has been taken from me, then poured into me.
I remember three high school teachers who walked into my life at the right time at Cass Tech. At a time when I didn't have a lot of voices telling me what I could accomplish, I needed them. It wasn't just a their kind words, but they put me in position to shine.
They recognized something in me, and allowed me the opportunity to articulate my thoughts and provided an outlet for the material I was reading....back then and to an extent today, reading was my escape, my safe place. It was their guiding hands that led me to my strength, giving me the confidence I needed to believe I could shape myself, and thus my future.
Thank you Ms. Harbour (African American History), Ms. Shelton (Social Studies), & Ms. Smith (Art).
It only takes a couple good people.
