Overview
The reflexive return to failure muscle memory, preceded by being exposed to principles, mindsets, and behaviors that are beneficial and create new normals, followed by feelings of being beset by new, unprecedented challenges.
Do You Have Failure Relapse
Failure relapse is often accompanied by feelings of being unhinged, operating in unfamiliar territory, and confusion. A common symptom is FEAR (false evidence appearing real). People afflicted with failure relapse experience varying degrees of discomfort and become extremely sensitive to constructive criticism, refusal to apply new methodologies, resistance to learning new skills and insights, seeking excuses for resisting new success itineraries, and becoming increasingly susceptible to hateration.
Extreme cases of failure relapse manifests in increased anxiety or becoming combative when queried about the lack of congruence between philosophies, thoughts, beliefs, desires, intentions, behaviors, and results. Followed by excessive excuse making, and seeking acceptance of previous habits that result in feelings of comfortable mediocrity, and rejection of strain.
Treatment
The affliction can be often treated with the introduction, acceptance, and regular contact with accountability partners, the use of a non electronic planner, the reading of 10pgs of progressive books daily; accompanied with the drafting of a vision statement and visible notations or artifacts (reminder notes, pictures of desired outcomes, clearly written commitment statements), and the systemic removal of excuses from one’s vocabulary. Most importantly, the re-introduction of a personal development itinerary that re-engineers WORK habits, and incorporates repeated Plan, Do, Review sessions.
What Happens if Left Untreated
The condition can worsen into blaming and criticizing others who refuse to accept recalcitrance, excuses, and self imposed incompetence; followed by the complete abandonment of previously articulated commitments. Onset of inspissate failure muscle memory, calcifying resistance to dream catching and goal setting is possible. The end result may be permanent spiritual and psychological death.
