You Just Have to Give In

Ever have a moment in life when you just felt right. I mean, just been in a really, really good place. So good that you almost can't stand yourself for moments at a time. Where all your failures, triumphs, and all the good will you've built up has finally culminated in something fantastic! You're ready to publicly repent for all the errors in judgement you've committed. Yet, ready to declare on high about what you've been prepared for.

It's almost like God's been whispering in your ear....JUST DO IT!!! And you're finally listening. Those that hated on you, don't even matter at all any more, because you're so excited about the present, and giddy about the future. You're not afraid of the hard work ahead, because it's not supposed to be easy anyway. The issues just became challenges to be lept over, and you know with faith and discipline you've already won.

It's like you've been reborn, but still appreciative of the battle scars. You may have worked from sun up to 2am, and you want to jump up and pop the collar of the shirt you haven't taken off yet.

Do something with that! Run with that!

If you don't know what I'm talking about.....somethings you just have to experience. But you have to allow yourself, believe you deserve it, give yourself permission. Write the things down that your spirit has compelled you to do. Itemize it. Then knock them down, one item at a time!!!

Still, don't get it. Maybe this scene from V for Vendetta might give you a glimpse into what I'm talking about!!

Your competition and adversaries aren't taking a break today. They woke up with an agenda today, just like you. They're motivated just like you. They're going to do they're best just like you. That should be expected. An ordinary recognition. So you are just going to have to go a little bit harder. A little bit further. Give a little extra. What are you going to do, to be extra-ordinary today?

Reviewing my notes from Larry Winget's, "You're Broke Because You Want to Be", was entertaining and inspiring. Can you imagine what the world would be like if people simply stopped allowing their excuses to be bigger than their dreams?

Paraphrasing Winget, instead of viewing people in terms of have and have nots, imagine viewing people in terms of will and will nots.

As a Black conservative, I am torn. I am hesitant to wield accusations of racism; however, I am not sure that if the situation had been the polar opposite – that if George Zimmerman got lost in an African-American neighborhood and Trayvon Martin went out with his gun to “check it out” — we would have gotten the same set of reactions from law enforcement and the prosecution. 

We will never know for sure how race played a role in the actions of Zimmerman that night. I strongly believe the jury reached the proper verdict because the state failed to provide the proper amount of evidence to convict him (innocent and not guilty are not the same), but the racial undertones surrounding the case cannot be denied. 

I do not always agree with Attorney General Eric Holder, but his remarks that we need “to speak honestly about the complicated and emotionally charged issues that this case has raised” are undeniable. He also said that we must understand why negative “generalities and stereotypes” are connected to the African-American male.

Normally loathe the commentary of quote unquote black conservatives regarding issues concerning cultural and socio-economic issues. Newsome's refusal to acknowledge that the imposition of “generalities and stereotypes” is racist behavior is a bit nauseating..... However, given it's brevity, it is one the more thoughtful "conservative" statements I've read. There is truth here.
